Mediation with NVC

Mediation with  Nonviolent Communication (NVC ) is an approach for resolving conflict guided by an impartial facilitator which honors the humanity of all parties.  NVC  is oriented toward relationship building and  healing of connection.  It carries the premise that when both parties can connect with and hold the the needs which underlie their own and the other's actions, the desire to find mutually satisfying agreements arises organically. 

I provide a grounded presence and structure to allow a deeper communication to unfold.  As mediator, I can support both parties in feeling heard and provide emotional support.  The process usually begins with individual sessions, so I can build connection with the participants, all parties can receive empathy for their feelings and needs and each can clarify what constructive aims they may have.

Once together, the process unfolds with attention to pace and intensity, transforming blame and judgement into the deeply held values beneath.  Both parties get a chance to share what really matters with feedback of whether they are heard by the other.  The measured pace of communication allows for a building of trust that both parties can be understood.

When people felt heard and understood, creative strategies that meet everyone's needs can naturally unfold.  Parties can move toward the conflict and become closer on the other side.
